This watercolor painting depicts a Judolia montivagans, aka Mountain Flower Longhorn Beetle.

I spotted this beetle perched on a purple aster while hiking in the Grand Mesa National Forest. This light yellow beetle sporting a dark checkered pattern certainly does love mountain flowers! To celebrate its intricate details, I isolated this beautiful insect against a clean, modern white background.
